Lets play a game....

 Ok.... Here are the rules.

Guess what country this flag belongs to.

 Did you post your answer?

Go do it!

Then guess who gets to go to this country!  (Is the suspense killing you?  Me too.)

So two guesses.  Submit your answers in the comments.  That is it  (super simple game...right?)

Luggage Redo - Black & White Poka Dot

I am going on a big trip this summer.  I had a small problem with luggage.  I did not have what I needed. I had a small overnight rolling bag and a carry on satchel type of bag.  That was about it!  But I needed something big enough to keep me for a month!

Being ..... frugal....., I stopped by several thrift stores until I found what I wanted, for a mere $15 bucks.  This large suit case was perfect.  It had great wheels, and most of all fabulous storage.  I also found a small over night case that had good bones.

I used the satchel that I already had as my inspiration piece.
On the back of the larger pieces, I used a screen printing technique to create the large damask image.  What is nice about using a screen is that I can use it over and over again.   On the fronts I used a smaller damask image that I created out of rubber for print making.

When those images dried, I took a sponge dabber and used some gesso (canvas primer) and created the dots. I was able to make some matching luggage out of a bunch of miss matched pieces.

Here you can see the front of the carry on rolling piece.

Now it is full of black and white loveliness.  I am attaching an orange luggage strap to each piece and some orange handles to help with the identification.

Love it!

These are the backs, where the large damask is on display.  I purposely did not put dots all over the whole thing, because I did not want it to be overwhelming.  These are the finished pieces.   In the second one, you can also see the original inspiration satchel that is placed on top of the big piece.

Have you ever altered luggage?  What did you do?  I want to hear.

Easter's past rememberance.

Easter was great.

I pick a color of choice every year.  Can you guess what the color was this year?

If you guesses yellow, that's right!
YELLOW!
I even had my men wear yellow shirts to match me and my beauty girl's dresses.

This year, I needed a hat.  So I choose to decorate matching hats - for me and my beauty girl-  to wear to church.  My men would have complained about the flower, so it was just for us girls.  It was so much fun to have Easter Hats.

Even our little dog Jack got to wear a yellow bow "tie" around his neck.

 It was a lovely day.

Talking a little fashion

Some of you may already know that I am a student at Mesa Community College.  Tonight is Fashion and Merchandising's spring fashion show.  It is called Exotic Amazon as the theme.

As a student in the Textiles classes, I have a piece I had to design and display in the fashion show.

They are doing a silent auction and I donated some of my hair accessories and a shirt that I hand silk screened an original design on.

These are pics of two of the hair delights.  I donated one more, but where the picture is hiding, I do not know.

This shirt is not the actual piece I donated, but you can get the idea.  This is also tee that I  screen printed shirt with my original design.

(Remind me!   I will post some of the fashion illustrations I have completed. )

It is going to be fun!

New...Internet thingy....

So our internet was having Big problems.  Not the service (we checked that first).  Not the Modem.  It was the wireless router.  Apparently they are only designed to last 3 to 5 years (something about having to keep up with technological advances.... or was it something else).
I am now the proud owner of a New wireless router.

But the best part is that we finally got this cute little blue box.  It is a portable hard drive.  Now I won't lose my life if my computer does the blue screen of death.  That has happened once upon a lifetime ago.  I think I will call it Gypsy because it is small and.....can travel!
